The IMCA has selected the CH350I for the Sport Modified and Hobby Stock Division!
When it comes to grass roots racing through the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA), EQ cylinder heads consistently help drivers find the winners’ circle.
So it was no surprise when IMCA announced that an EQ small block Chevy cylinder head (part #CH350I) would be offered as an optional head for the organization’s Northern and Southern Sportmod divisions. Also, the IMCA has selected the EQ Chevy spec head for the Hobby Stock Division! These stock heads include the IMCA logo and a unique serial number so IMCA can track usage in competitions.
IMCA allows an alternative to the stock GM cast iron head and one that hasn’t been altered and is pre-1970. The EQ head is comparable in flow numbers and performance with similar dyno to multiple GM castings.
These special IMCA cylinder heads are currently available through EngineQuest and select distributors.
In addition to being the title sponsor of the IMCA Wild West Modified Tour, EQ is an overall sponsor of IMCA Racing.

EQ's Magnum Cylinder Head Approved for
Use in Three IMCA Divisions for 2012
Racing body approves usage of head to meet demand for OEM replacement
(Las Vegas, Nev.) – EngineQuest® (EQ®) announced today that its cast iron Magnum cylinder head (EQ Part#CH318B) has been approved as a stock replacement for the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern Sport Mod and Smiley's Racing Chassis Southern SportMod divisions for the 2012 race season. EQ, a leading supplier of stock and performance cylinder heads and engine components, is a general sponsor of IMCA racing and just completed its fifth year as the title sponsor of the EQ Cylinder Heads IMCA Modified Wild West Tour.
"We are excited that our Chrysler head can now be utilized by race teams in these IMCA divisions," said Eric Haugland, EQ's national accounts manager. "This is just further proof that EQ has become the head of choice by the most competitive race teams."
EQ Part #CH318B is a 1992–2004 Chrysler 318/360 head machined for a pre-1990 LA-style intake pattern that still uses all Magnum rocker parts. Haugland says it is a durable alternative to the "inherently bad OEM casting." Made in Australia, this head offers superior quality at an affordable price with no additional machining, porting or polishing required.
IMCA vice president of operations, Brett Root, said IMCA recently met with EQ to put together the agreement. "There has been a demand for an OEM replacement cylinder head in these divisions," explained Root. "I think the addition of EQ's Chrysler head is a good option for our members that will maintain parity in the rules, while providing an out-of-the-box option."
Other EQ cylinder are already being used in IMCA competitions. EQ’s early 350 cylinder head (#CH350I) is approved as a direct replacement for the IMCA Northern and Southern Sport Mod divisions and Hobby Stock division. EQ’s high performance 23° cylinder head is approved for use in the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Modified Tour.
